Program Description:

The Marketing program combines specialized marketing courses with subjects in humanities, sciences, social sciences, mathematics, and business fundamentals.

Students in this program develop the necessary tools to understand consumer behavior, concepts related to segmentation and positioning strategies. Students will also learn how to identify the marketing mix for products and services and apply them to develop basic products, pricing, placement and promotion plans.

 

Program Objective:

The Marketing program prepares students to be a link between the market and an organization by developing their capacity to identify consumer needs and fulfill them with tangible products and services, using the basic management tools and marketing fundamentals.

 

Courses: 
English Composition I
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, In this course students will learn how to write clear, correct and effectively. The purpose of this course is to teach students the use of grammar and organizational skills to write an effective essay. Students write frequently both in and out of class.
Introduction to Public Speaking
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The students will learn effective ways to communicate their ideas in different types of public settings. Students are expected to participate in debates, group presentations and persuasive speech. This class will provide the knowledge for effective communication and effective ways to organize a message.
Environmental Science.
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, and to evaluate the risks associated with these problems and examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them
College Algebra
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide students with critical thinking skills and the ability to solve mathematical functions. Topics will include: Polynomial functions, Rational functions, Exponential functions, Logarithmic functions and linear systems. Students are expected to engage in an active discovery of mathematical concepts.
Introduction to Ethics
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide students with a clear definition of Ethics and the nature of morality. Ethics will be analyzed from different points of view this includes; cultural, socio-economic and religious influence. The students will investigate how Ethics influence one’s ability to judge and make decisions.
English Composition II
3 credits, Pre-requisite: ENC 1001 English Composition I, This course is a continuation of English composition 1001. Students will review and reinforce How to write effective essays that keeps the audience interested. In addition, students will learn new techniques to write analytical essays.
Western Civilization I
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to analyze the main events in human civilization from ancient times to modern times. Students will be able to understand the relationship between the past and the present. Students are expected to analyze the way Western society has change over time and how major events and ideas shaped our society. Geography, religions, customs, wars and ideologies are examined in order to understand Western civilization.
General Biology
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide students with the basic knowledge in Biology; topics will include: cell structure and function, evolution, genetics and ecology. The students are expected to use the scientific method of thinking to analyze and relate concepts to the environment.
Total Wellness
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this class is to provide students with the knowledge and awareness to live a balance life. Wellness is analyzed from different points of view including, physical, emotional, mental and environmental. The students will be expected to think critical and analytical providing feedbacks to the issues presented in class. In addition students will analyze their lifestyles, families and environment in order to create a plan to life a total wellness life style.
Statistics
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge to make intelligent judgments and informed decisions by interpreting statistics and analyzing data. Among the topics studied are: collecting data, descriptive methods, probability material and inferential techniques.
American Literature
3 credits, Pre-requisite: ENC 1102 English Composition II, This course covers major writers, genres and themes in American Literature from 1900 to the present. This includes fiction, poetry and drama. In addition, students will analyze the social, political and cultural context in which each writing work takes place.
Principles of Macroeconomics
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to study production, employment, prices, the aggregate expenditures and the aggregate levels of economic activity. Students are expected to analyze monetary and fiscal policies with respect to unemployment and inflation.
Introduction to Business
3 credits, The purpose of this course is to provide a student with the introductory knowledge in Business and the role it plays in today’s economy. Among the topics studied are: finance, personnel, management and marketing. Students are expected to keep themselves informed and up today with local and global economic news.
Principles of Accounting I
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, This course is an introduction to accounting and its basic concepts. Students will learn how to record, understand and review financial transactions. Among the topics studied we have: financial statements, information system, accrual accounting, sales and receivables and operating assets
Principles of Marketing
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, In this course we will study marketing concepts and principles and their practical application. Students will examine risks and challenges marketers encounter in the process of establishing their competitive edge. Subject matter includes economics, marketing foundations that place emphasis on selling, promotion, product and service management, pricing and distribution.
Principles of Microeconomics
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to study the different economic models, the relationship between consumers, firms and markets. In addition, the students will understand how the government regulates the economy and how it intervenes in the market
International Marketing
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, This course will provide an overview of the unique aspects of marketing in the international business environment and provide the structure upon which the multinational marketing management can be based. Emphasis will be placed on the role of the international marketing manager in the expansion of marketing strategies for a variety of markets in diverse cultural, political and economic situations. Areas of focus will include the decision making process in the areas of foreign market analysis, target identification, product planning, promotion and channels of distribution.
Advertising
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge in advertisement and its key components. Students will be able to describe the roles functions and types of advertising as well as the planning and strategy behind it. Among the topics studied we have: strategic research in advertising, advertising strategy, public relations, and regulations of advertising and advertising’s role in marketing.
Business Management and Consumer Behavior Analysis
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, This course will prepare students to apply economic theory techniques into the real world, as well as become effective consumer sales managers. Among the topics studied we have: achieving sustainability, decision making, demand analysis, production and cost, business risk assessment and monopolistic competition.
Marketing Management
3 credits, Pre-requisite: None, This course will prepare students to become effective marketing managers, to think analytically and to be able to make better decisions. Among the topics studied we have: Economics and management, efficiency, organization of the firm, seeking and sustaining competitive advantage and demand and revenue management.
