SEVIS Statement

On July 6, 2020, the Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) announced modifications to the temporary exemptions for F1 students taking a significant number of online courses while remaining in the United States due to COVID-19 for the Fall 2020 term.

We understand how anxious international students, faculty, and staff are to comprehend the modifications as these changes are unclear about how they can be put into practice for the next term.

San Ignacio University is working actively with our regulators, officials, and experts to address the modification requirements so these do not negatively impact our international students.

Most importantly, we will be adopting a hybrid academic model for the Fall 2020 term in order to comply with all regulations including SEVP. Hybrid courses will involve both remote and in-person learning. Prior to registering for the next academic cycle, you will be updated with the detailed academic format of the next term (Fall 2020) considering all academic processes and health protocols.

We are also taking into consideration the spike of cases in the State of Florida and we will proceed accordingly with all recommendations from the federal, state, and local governments in order to maintain the safety of our student body, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Once again, please stay safe.
